    Charisma and the Berry Boat depicts the natural occurrence of songs in children’s lives.

    When Charisma, a carefree 6 year old girl, thinks grandpa’s black boat could use a little makeover, she decides to paint it herself. She imagines boats made of fruit as she paints and sings. Set against a tropical backdrop with a hilarious twist, Charisma and the Berry Boat is an interactive story for children aged 3 to 7. The book includes a list of fruits with three-syllable names for creating additional verses.

    About the Character
    The character Charisma is a carefree 6 year old girl who loves to sing all the time. Charisma is an adventurous character who likes to fix things on her own.

  • Author Anne Richmond

    I am a teacher, musician and singer. In my fifteen years teaching children as both a Montessori Teacher and an Elementary Music Teacher, I have had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of music to constant practice.

    Whether it is writing stories and plays, teaching music, training voices or conducting workshops on the Importance of Music in Early Childhood, fostering a love of music in young children has been my life-long passion.

    I was born and raised in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka - a coastal town of natural beauty. My father, Thavarajah encouraged me to dream big. My mother, Thevamalar taught me to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. My brothers Darshan and Prakash showered me with constant love and support which made me strong; my school days at St. Cecelia’s Convent helped me become confident. I obtained my BA in English Literature in India where I discovered my love for writing stories and plays.

    Eventually I moved to Canada where I graduated with a Diploma in Montessori Education. I taught in a primary class for 3 to 6 year olds and I taught an Elementary Music Programme at White Oaks Montessori School in Mississauga for many years. Today, I live with my loving husband Richmond, my older daughter Charisma, who is the inspiration for my book and my younger daughter, Serena who sang before she uttered her first words.

    I have released an original Album titled True Story, on Amazon and iTunes. Its music is a marriage between Eastern and Western style music. Through ARMusic I can share my love for music with a unique approach that will help students learn music in a fun way. My book, Charisma and the Berry Boat, is a story intertwined with a song; it is a product of my passion for literature and music.
